Pamela’s paintings are a work of HeART!

When a community comes together in support of local health care, it’s a wonderful thing.

Pamela Carter, owner of Pamela Carter Studio in Wellington is thrilled her art is contributing to the betterment of Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

Carter’s passion for art became a source of financial support for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation through her art sale fundraiser that took place from May 4 to June 7. PEMCH Foundation received 25 per cent of proceeds from the art sold.

Twenty-three paintings were sold, which resulted in $1,793.75 being donated to PECMHF’s area of greatest need.

Carter has loved putting paintbrush to canvas for as long as she can remember. Not only has art has provided her with an outlet for her creativity, it is also a tool she can use to support fundraising efforts for the hospital.

“I have high praise for our healthcare system and particularly how the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation works to raise funds to improve our hospital, as well as purchase the latest equipment, which we know is expensive, has a short lifespan and is not funded by the government,” said Carter.

A resident of Wellington since 2009, Carter feels she’s found her true home in a rich and welcoming arts community where she exhibits in local galleries, participates in the PEC Studio Tour, and is a member of the Arts Trail. Carter also donated a painting to be auctioned off at the PECMH Foundation’s Bid for the Build art auction held in partnership with the Prince Edward County Art Dealers Association (PECADA) in May 2019.

Over her career, Pamela has explored a wide spectrum of painting genres, initially with pastels, and now exclusively with oils; from landscape and still life to figures, urban scenes and portraiture. In recent years, she has embarked on an exploration of abstract painting where her skills in drawing and textural brushwork combine with her understanding of colour and composition in unexpected and exciting ways. She moves effortlessly between vivid abstraction and arresting realism, each genre nourishing the other.

“I am proud to support our doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and frontline staff who continue to provide a high level of care needed during these extraordinary times,” said Carter. “In these uncertain and stressful pandemic times, we are all doing our part wherever possible to help out. Here in PEC, so many people, little kids and teens as well, have stepped up to make a real difference. Our now and future hospital and all the frontline workers there could not be more important at this time. Holding this fundraiser was something I was very pleased to do. I’m grateful to all the art lovers out there who jumped at the chance to donate in this way. Thank you for making it such a success and I hope to see you again at the next one!”

An investment in healthcare, is an investment in your community. Your financial gift is an important investment in Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and the health of our patients and community. At PECMH Foundation, our aim is to direct your contribution to meet the needs of our hospital and patients.

With our mission of advancing health care for the patients of the hospital and the people of Prince Edward County, together we can make that happen, explained Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation.

“Your donations enhance our capacity, beyond the level generated by our tax dollars, to care for patients right here in the County. The Foundation’s job is to raise the funds needed to ensure our care providers and the hospital are equipped to provide the best care for our patients. The Foundation plays a critical role in providing funding for essential, specialized equipment. Your dollars go a long way towards improving care for residents in our community who need treatment, close to home. Thank you to Pamela and to all our amazing donors for their positive support of our hospital. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in the care you and your family receive,” said Coull. “We are blessed to live in this generous community which ensures we have a vibrant hospital armed with the best medical equipment possible.”
