PICTON, December 15, 2021 – Spirits were bright at the Wellings of Picton on Wednesday, December 15 as a group of their residents presented the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation with a holiday gift of $7,000 and counting.
The funds were raised through two events hosted by the Wellings of Picton. The first was an online auction that ran from November 15 to December 12 with proceeds supporting PECMHF’s Back the Build campaign. Over 80 items were available to bid on, which lifted the spirits of the new hospital campaign.
The second event saw the return of the in-person Making Spirits Bright Bazaar that was held on Saturday, December 4 in the Wellings of Picton atrium. Approximately 20 vendors sold their homemade wares.
Rachel Henry, general manager of the Wellings of Picton, sincerely thanks the community for supporting both their online auction and the bazaar and extends heartfelt gratitude to the residents who helped organize these festive fundraisers. The residents at the Wellings of Picton remain committed to supporting the building of a new hospital in Prince Edward County.
“It is always so wonderful to work with our residents who have spent countless hours organizing these holiday events. A big thanks to our committee members, residents, and all of the local businesses who have contributed time, set up a table, or donated an auction item to make our efforts a success,” said Henry. “I also want to recognize the staff at the Wellings of Picton who helped ensure our shoppers had a safe and enjoyable shopping experience.”
“The residents’ group and vendors that came together from the Wellings to continue to support our County hospital and the building of our new hospital speaks to the importance of community involvement and the impact it has on the quality of life for those residents and visitors to our County,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “We are so grateful for the generosity shown to us by our friends living at the Wellings of Picton who continue to creatively and passionately invest in the future of health care delivery at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.”
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization whose mission is to raise money to advance health care for the patients of the hospital and the people of Prince Edward County.
