PICTON, October 7, 2021

It’s the treat that keeps on giving!

The 2021 Smile Cookie results are in and they’re sweeter than ever.

Tim Hortons’ annual Smile Cookie Campaign raised $10,272 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF). Topping the 2020 result by $3,000, this is the best Smile Cookie result that has been raised locally to date!

“This year’s campaign was a tremendous success again and it wouldn’t have been possible without the loyal support of our customers and the dedicated staff who worked hard to create those 10,365 smiles for our local hospital,” said Paul Massey, owner of the Picton and Wellington Tim Hortons.

The campaign ran for one week from September 13 to 19. Both the Picton and Wellington restaurants designated the proceeds of their $1 chocolate chunk cookie sales to the PECMH Foundation for the eighth consecutive year. Tim Hortons has supported the purchase of medical equipment needed at our County hospital for over 19 years.

This year’s Smile Cookie campaign pushes Tim Hortons’ cumulative giving to $53,350.15.

“The relationship with have with the Massey Family is quite special,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “The Massey family and Tim Hortons have been supporting our County hospital for over 19 years. This is nothing short of remarkable. Tim Hortons’ investment in local healthcare, is an investment in our community’s quality of life. This financial gift, made possible by all the customers who enjoyed cookies throughout the Smile Cookie campaign, will have an impact on our hospital and the care our patients receive.”

“The Foundation’s job is to raise the funds needed to ensure our care providers and the hospital are equipped to provide the best care for our patients. The Foundation plays a critical role in providing funding for essential, specialized equipment. Donor dollars go a long way towards improving care for residents in our community who need treatment, close to home, said Barbara McConnell, chairperson of the PECMH Foundation. “Thank you to Paul, Valerie, and to all of our amazing donors for their positive support of our hospital. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in the care you and your family receive. We are blessed to live in this generous community, which ensures we have a vibrant hospital armed with the best medical equipment possible.”

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to raising funds to advance health care for the patients of the hospital and the people of Prince Edward County.
