PECMH Foundation “all smiles” after Smile Cookie Campaign
PICTON, May 14, 2023 - It’s the treat that keeps on giving!
The 2024 Smile Cookie results are in.
Tim Hortons’ annual Smile Cookie Campaign raised $12,243.46 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF).
“This year’s campaign was a smiling success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the loyal support of our customers and our dedicated staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to create over 12,000 smiles to Back the Build for our new County hospital,” said Paul Massey, owner of the Picton and Wellington Tim Hortons.
The campaign ran for one week, from April 29 to May 5. The Picton and Wellington restaurants designated the proceeds of their chocolate chunk cookie sales to the PECMH Foundation for the 11th consecutive year.
This year’s Smile Cookie campaign pushes Tim Hortons’ cumulative giving to $92,939 over 22 years.
“Our foundation’s relationship with our local Tim Hortons family is very special,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “Paul Massey and the staff at Tim Hortons continue to invest in the future of healthcare delivery in our community, which is an investment in the quality of life for our residents and visitors. This gift, made possible by all the customers who enjoyed cookies throughout the Smile Cookie campaign, goes a long way to ensuring that our community will be able to access care close to home for many years to come. And that’s something worth smiling about.”
“Thank you to Paul, his team, and all the amazing donors for continuing to support our Back the Build campaign. You all put a smile on our face with this year’s incredible result,” said Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign cabinet chairperson. “Every donation, regardless of size, brings us closer to realizing our dream for a new hospital for Prince Edward County. As we approach putting shovels in the ground this summer, this gift from Tim Hortons will help ensure we have a new, leading-edge hospital armed with the best medical equipment possible.”
Plans are underway for a 96Ksqft hospital with design potential for 23 in-patient beds. The new hospital will have leading-edge infection control and ventilation, wider halls for modern medical equipment, and larger patient rooms equipped with smart technology.
The emergency department will be equipped with the latest technology and staffed with our skilled and dedicated healthcare professionals. Inside its walls will be a suite of clinics to provide endoscopy and dialysis treatment, among other medical services. Based on current timelines, the new hospital will be completed in 2027.
