Recently, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (PECMHF) community report landed in over 11,000 mailboxes across Prince Edward County. In it, we share the stories of our philanthropic community and what donors helped make possible. The report celebrates how community support makes a difference as we look towards the future.
Our report highlights many examples of kindness and generosity. Our new hospital plans continue to move forward, and our Care Champions can provide exceptional care to patients requiring hospital services.
When we look back at all we have accomplished during the 2022/23 fiscal year, money raised, equipment purchased, and community engagement, we can proudly boast this is a community that deeply cares about its hospital.
Donor support enhances care across the Quinte region and at our local hospital. Having access to leading edge equipment and technology plays a critical role in enabling our hospital’s Care Champions to provide exceptional care.
Thank you to the 2,261 caring supporters who made 4,416 contributions during the 2022/23 year. Individuals, families, foundations, and businesses came together to raise over $3 million for equipment needed at our County hospital and to help Back the Build for our new hospital.
PECMHF welcomed 746 new donors into our foundation family as well 43 new corporate partners.
We are proud to share that 86 cents of every dollar went to support the hospital’s highest needs, with 0.14 cents of every dollar supporting our fundraising and operations.
These gifts are making a difference in the lives of so many patients. The impact of this generosity is felt across the hospital, from Diagnostic Imaging to the Endoscopy Department.
Speaking of the clinical side, our County hospital managed almost 44,000 patient visits. Our hospital’s emergency department remained busy throughout the fiscal year, managing over 19,000 patient visits.
We are grateful to all the individuals who generously give their time to serve on our board and our campaign cabinet. At our annual general meeting in June, we welcomed two new board members: Peggy Payne, who stepped into the vice chairperson role, and Susan Quaiff who replaced Pat Evans as the PECMH Auxiliary representative. This brings the board to 17 members.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our hospital leaders, staff, physicians, and volunteers for their dedication to our patients and community. We extend heartfelt gratitude to our communities for their steadfast support of PECMHF and all who rely on Prince Edward County’s health care system at this critical time – and always.
This is not an easy time for anyone. The cost of living is rising and the pressures on donors rise with it. The decision to give is both generous and kind and ensures PECMHF is well positioned to continue with our mission of advancing health care for the people of Prince Edward County and the patients of the hospital. As we look to the future, we will continue to build on our successes and keep up-to-date with the evolving needs of our community.
As much as donor generosity humbles us, it also energizes the Care Champions who are working every day to care for patients. Your financial support is a boost to the resources they need and to the vitality they bring to work every day.
We continue to have such wonderful acts of gratitude, incredible stories of impact, and a community of incredible supporters. We hope you will take a moment to enjoy our community report when you receive it.
