Waring House Haunt Backs the Build

PICTON, December 8, 2022 - A local business continues to help Back the Build for a new County hospital in a spooktacular way.
For the staff at the Waring House Restaurant and Inn, getting into the Halloween spirit was about much more than just the friendly frights again this year! For the third year, the Waring House was transformed into a haunted Halloween walk-through by Innkeeper, Norah Rogers and Waring House staff member, Krista Tevlin. The walk-through was open the weekend leading up to and including Halloween.
The aim was to provide a free, family-friendly experience and provide some frightening fun for trick-or-treaters while collecting donations to help the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) Back the Build for a new County hospital.
The spine-tingling results are in and $1,141 was raised for the new hospital’s $6M equipment campaign. This brings the three-year total raised from this event to $3,814.65.
“This year we worked hard to ensure our haunted walk through was a safe and memorable experience,” said Norah Rogers, owner of the Waring House. “We had a great response from the community. Everybody who went through was enthusiastic and enjoyed it. A lot of kids said it was the best part of Halloween.”
The event was a safe alternative to trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
“PECMHF sincerely thanks Norah and Chris Rogers, Krista Tevlin, and Waring House staff who decorated and executed the event, and everyone who walked through and gave a donation to help build a healthy future for residents and visitors to Prince Edward County. We are blessed to live in this generous community which is ensuring our new hospital will be built and equipped with the best medical equipment possible for years to come,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation.
“Part of the success for us is knowing the Waring House provided a safe place for families in this community to know their children could go and have some enjoyment in a controlled atmosphere,” said Rogers. “Being able to give back and support the major medical equipment needs for The County’s new hospital was really an added treat. Thank you to all the ghouls who came out and made a contribution.”
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to raising funds to advance health care for the patients of the hospital and the people of Prince Edward County.
